Types of Hardwood Flooring

Solid Wood is one solid piece of wood that have tongue and groove
sides, are unfinished, and pre-finished ¾” solid wood floors.

Pros:
Can be sanded and refinished over several generations of
use
Can last the life of the house
Cons:
More expensive than engineered wood
Finish maintenance required, subject to dents,
expands/contracts with humidity
Are sensitive to moisture
Should not be installed in bathrooms/laundry rooms
Are not recommended for installation below ground level, or
directly over a concrete slab
Solid wood flooring expands and contracts with changes in
your home's relative humidity. Normally, installers
compensate for this movement by leaving an expansion gap
between the floor and the wall. Base molding or quarter
round is traditionally used to hide the extra space.
Can discolor and wear quickly & it is more difficult to install.
